Outlook is Asking for Username and Password when using Exchange 2010

In exchange server 2010 client, some time it will ask for password continuously.This is caused by a mismatch in the configuration of Exchange and Outlook. If you configured one is basic Authentication for RPC-HTTPS and the other for NTLM authentication it will make problems like this. Please follow the below steps to resolve this problem.

  1. Open the the exchange management console . Under the server Configuration right click on the Client Access role and select properties.
  2. From the outlook anywhere tab, click on the authentication methods.
  3. From the outlook, Go to Tools > Account Settings. Click on “account configured to use Microsoft Exchange” and select properties.
  4. From the properties, go to advanced settings from bottom of screen and make sure authentication setting in use is same as server.
